YELLAMEN BACK ON VASE TRAIL AT FRIMLEY
Ascot United continue their Buildbase FA Vase quest this weekend with the short trip to Frimley Green (Saturday, 3pm).

The home side’s league form has been indifferent with just five points from their opening five league matches, although a 3-1 victory over Lydney Town in the previous round of the FA Vase was certainly a welcome result, for both Ascot and Frimley!

Frimley’s history has included yo-yoing between the Premier and Division One of the Combined Counties league, and this season they will hope to remain in the top flight after two previous relegations and promotions – most recently at the end of last season back up to Step 5.

Their best FA Vase run came in 08/09 when they reached the third round, eventually losing to VCD Athletic in a replay.

This is the also first of at least four meetings between the two sides this season as they will meet in the Combined Counties League Cup on 24th September in addition to their league meetings in December and April.

Extra time will be played if the scores are level after ninety minutes. If the scores are level after extra time, then a replay will take place albeit back at Frimley on Tuesday 17th September in what would be Ascot United’s ‘home’ game.

Match reporting on Saturday will follow (although the match reporter can only attend the first 45 minutes of the game!). Address for travelling fans is: Frimley Green Recreation Ground, Frimley Green Road, Frimley Green, Camberley, Surrey, GU16 6JY
