Jeff Lamb and Paul MacGrotty are finalising what looks to be a strong first team squad this season. Most of the players are now signed up but we are delighted to announce that Ben Knight and Adam Kennedy have also joined us. Both players have been on our radar for some time. Adam (photo above) has finished his degree and is returning to Ascot from Bracknell Town, a committed left footed defender equally at home at full back or centre half. He had a good season last year and captained Bracknell Town on some occasions. His no nonsense approach makes him another key signing as Jeff and Paul rebuild the side. Ben is a fast, mobile, skilful striker also from Bracknell Town and before that Finchampstead. He showed what he is capable of in the deserved 3-2 win against Southern League Godalming last night. He has fully recovered from a serious injury a couple of seasons ago and is back firing on all cylinders and will be looking to score 20+ goals this season. Ben had attracted interest from a number of local clubs but we are delighted he decided to join up with Ascot. Not long to go now, come and see the new look Ascot United at the Racecourse this Friday ko 7.45pm when the Yellamen play their last pre-season friendly against Hayes and Yeading.
