|Ascot United welcome Wantage Town to the Racecourse on Saturday as they bid to reach the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup on Saturday.
The Yellamen have seen off Thame Rangers (2-1), Headington Amateurs (4-0), Abingdon United (4-0) and Longlevens (3-2) en route, and now Wantage lie in their way of booking a return to a final they last reached in 2015 and last won in 2014.
Wantage return just three weeks after battling to a 1-1 league draw in front of a crowd of 75, but the hope is for the local community to come down to The Racecourse and get behind Jamie Tompkins’ side who could be playing their last home game of the season.
Wantage are, however, in fine form. Lying second in the league and having won all five matches since that 1-1 draw, they are currently eyeing up four trophies given their interests in the Floodlit and Reading Senior Cups.
Also this weekend, The Development Side travel to Eversley and California as they continue their push for the Suburban League title. Tommy Wilkinson’s side are top, three points ahead of Tring with a game in hand, although there are seven games remaining Tring will be eyeing their trip to Ascot on 23rd March as a possible title-swinging match.
On Sunday, struggling Warsash Wasps visit the Racecourse for a Southern Region Womens Football League date with Ascot United Ladies, whereas the Ladies’ Development Side are on the road again – this time at Harefield Ladies – looking to build on last week’s tremendous win at Woking.
